This ViewMax application is greatly increasing speed of response to configure and quotation requests from the customer, allows 24 hr 7 day support, and does not require any client software program other than a standard browser. The ViewMax server is NT 4.0 on a Compaq Intel platform. It accesses the AS/400 via 5250 interface and uses an OLE extension to access the Excel configuration application. Mitsubishi Electric UK

Mitsubishi Electric Europe is a major retail electronics distributor with over 1000 dealers who sell and repair home electronic equipment televisions, VCR's etc. ViewMax allows order placement, account status, shipment status and inventory status to be performed by the dealer directly -- using a standard web browser over the Internet. This information is being seamlessly accessed from Mitsubishi's mainframe and integrated into the web front-end. Mitsubishi has been able to reduce reliance on telephone operators, provide 24hr/7day trading and reduce transcription errors. ViewMax runs on a Sun Sparc server with a SNA gateway to the IBM Mainframe which runs a CICS transaction application for order processing and inventory control. Panasonic

Panasonic

Panasonic UK is using ViewMax for two different applications. First is a dealer network -- similar to the application described for Mitsubishi. This is in pilot and not yet rolled out. When launched, it will provide web-based ordering to over 3000 dealers across the UK. The second application uses ViewMax to convert videotext datastreams into AS/400 5250 datastreams. This allows their dealers to use their existing videotext data terminals or pc emulation software to transact with the new AS400 business systems for order processing, account status etc.

 Tatung

Tatung

Tatung UK distributes monitors and VDU volume product from a centralized distribution center in the UK. This is a true electronic commerce application interfacing EDI with a midrange system without modifying any legacy code using the ViewMax API -- there is no browser interface. EDI messages are sent to the server which translates them into a flat file. ViewMax then presents the data (purchase orders) into the fields of a screen based order processing and inventory control application running on Tatung's AS/400. The response from the AS/400 is converted back into a flat file which is then translated into an EDI message (an order acknowledgment).

ViewMax and the translator software both run on the same NT 4.0 Intel platform. This solution was approximately half of the cost for a pure AS/400 EDI solution and didn't require any of the serious reprogramming and workflow disruption that instituting a typical EDI solution entails. In addition, Tatung now have the basics in place to integrate other ancillary applications, such as their barcode inventory tracking application and, in time, a dealer Extranet E-commerce capability.

Heatherwood and Wexham Trust

ViewMax is used to present text based data on hospital patients in a thin-client, GUI interface. The existing Patient Admission System (PAS) is written in UNIX. It was previously accessed with VT100 terminal emulation software on their PCs. ViewMax is enabling nurses, administrators, and other hospital staff to use a greatly simplified browser-based interface for managing patient records -- which are still being stored in the PAS system. ViewMax is providing greatly improved ease of use -- allowing more accurate recording, reduced staff training costs, and lower costs of desktop computing for data entry staff. The server used is Compaq with NT 4.0. The ViewMax license is 150 concurrent users.

 Mitsubishi Motors

Colt Car Company

Colt Car Company is the exclusive importer and distributor of Mitsubishi Motor's in the UK. With their recent upgrade of the network of 114 dealer showrooms to a corporate intranet required providing browser-based access to two legacy systems. First, ViewMax provides dealers ISDN access to a ICL mainframe application which controls information on warranty claims, spare parts and vehicle ordering, used vehicle location etc. And second, ViewMax is enabling dealers to access a financial services supplier's AS/400 through a leased line. Colt Car has now given their dealers access to all of their dealer services through one interface. ViewMax runs on a HP NT 4.0 platform. To service their 114 dealers, Colt Cars has a 64 concurrent user license for the ICL (with a 7561 connection to the mainframe) and an additional 16 concurrent user license to the AS/400 (using a 5250 connection).
