Process
Control
MODCOMP has a long-standing commitment to process control and factory
automation applications. MODCOMP computer systems support batch and
continuous process control applications to process primary metals,
oil and gas, rubber and plastics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pulp
and paper, and food and beverages.
MODCOMP
works closely with other companies to provide engineered systems
for factory automation that include discrete parts manufacturing
for fabricated metals and non-electrical machinery and components
for electrical, electronic, and automotive applications. MODCOMP
also offers plant control software, intelligent I/O control systems,
and advanced networking capabilities for growing mid-size companies,
as well as major conglomerates.
MODCOMP
can provide users with enterprise-wide solutions such as streamlining
a manufacturing production system and integrating it with the information
management system. The automation of a plant at all levels, from
the factory floor to the corporate boardroom, is increasingly becoming
a requirement to compete in today's global marketplace. MODCOMP's
real-time systems, can meet the requirements of today's competitive
industrial automation marketplace by bringing the factory of the
future into the present.
Government/Aerospace
For two decades, high performance and reliability have been hallmarks
of MODCOMP computer systems in aerospace applications. MODCOMP provides
the computing power for a broad range of applications including national
defense systems, C4I (command, control, communications, computers
and intelligence), planetary exploration, aeronautical engineering,
and space transportation systems.
MODCOMP
is a key supplier of computers for national defense systems that
track missiles, hostile aircraft, and other unfriendly objects.
MODCOMP systems can be found in the Perimeter Acquisition Vehicle
Entry Phased-Array Warning System, or PAVE PAWS, where it controls
the radar, processes the radar output, and provides diagnostics
on the radar hardware. MODCOMP offers superior real-time solutions
for C4I customers who build systems for weather monitoring and forecasting,
battle and/or mission control, satellite control, air traffic control,
intelligence analysis, environmental monitoring, and mapping geographical
analysis.
MODCOMP
computers are also used for high-speed data acquisition and control
applications, such as shuttle engine testing, pre-launch space shuttle
data acquisition processing, monitoring and controlling research
data at wind tunnel facilities, and processing telemetry data at
NASA installations that include the Kennedy Space Center, Langley
Research Center, and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
Recognizing
the growing, changing environment of computing for government and
aerospace applications, MODCOMP is committed to standards by supporting
a UNIX operating system, POSIX, networking such as TCP/IP, Ada,
and the MIL-STD-1553 avionic interface. In aerospace applications,
MODCOMP has the proven experience and expertise to handle time-critical
applications where lives, as well as money, are at stake.
Communications
Accuracy, security, and real-time information have become the
essential tools of this information-based world economy. By using
MODCOMP's balanced real-time technology as the basis for a communications
system, a user can access information quickly and transparently. MODCOMP
is on the cutting-edge of Internet based electronic commerce solutions
providing corporations the necessary technology and expertise to be
able to take advantage of this new way of conducting business. MODCOMP
has many real-time systems in communications and network applications
including packet switched networks, reservation service systems, transaction
processing systems, information system access, and front-end processing
for IBM, DEC, CDC, Cray and many other systems. MODCOMP systems are
widely used in data communications applications ranging from direct
interfaces to satellite channels that link geographically dispersed
earth stations to supplying up-to-the-second financial information
to stockbrokers and their clients.
Utilities
MODCOMP systems are used within the various utilities markets. On-line
supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems in electric,
gas, and plant monitoring of waste-water treatment plants provide
real-time data for efficient energy management of all processes.
These applications require real-time deterministic system performance.
MODCOMP systems are used worldwide in these markets providing long-term
reliable performance.
Other
Markets and Services
MODCOMP systems can be found in many other real-time applications.
In addition to the process control, government/aerospace, communications,
and utilities industries, MODCOMP systems are used in applications
that include online transaction processing (OLTP) in financial institutions,
hospitals, and manufacturing companies. MODCOMP systems are also used
in various transportation applications, such as centralized traffic
control and computerized train dispatch systems. Scientists and researchers
use MODCOMP computers in a variety of applications, such as solar
energy and nuclear research, cancer and agricultural research and
in analytical, image processing, and robotics laboratories.
To
serve the needs of a wide range of real-time users, MODCOMP offers
a comprehensive alternate channel program called ALERT (ALliance
for Excellence in Real-Time). MODCOMP combines resources with vertical
market specialists such as systems integrators (SI's), value added
resellers (VAR's), original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) , and
software marketing alliances to provide end-users with total turnkey
solutions for their computing needs.
