CSP Inc. Announces Partnership at MODCOMP Subsidiary with 4C Solutions

Agreement Positions Company to Leverage ViewMax Product in Fast-Growing E-Commerce Market

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., May 10, 1999 -- CSP Inc. (NASDAQ:CSPI) announced that its MODCOMP, Inc. subsidiary, a leading developer of Internet software solutions, has entered into a partnership with 4C Solutions, Inc. (4CS), a developer of custom software applications and business solutions.

The agreement is intended to optimize the Company's position in the fast-growing Web-to-host market. The partnership will create a new distribution channel for ViewMax(TM) by tapping into an established 4CS e-business customer and partner network. 4CS will implement ViewMax solutions for these customers and provide installation, deployment and support services to new ViewMax customers.

ViewMax allows companies to easily integrate IT systems with Internet technology without any modification to the underlying legacy application code. Acting as a bridge between a company's legacy systems and its network -- including extranets and the Internet -- ViewMax selectively extends information from green screens, allowing users to access and update the data from a web browser.

As companies complete Year 2000 projects, many are looking to legacy extension vendors to provide Web-to-host solutions as a cost-effective way to enter the e-commerce market.

"More and more companies are poised to launch new e-business applications," said Gary Fowler, vice president, sales and marketing, Internet Products Division, MODCOMP, Inc. "These companies intend to gain a competitive edge in the e-commerce marketplace to improve their current operations. By partnering with 4CS, we believe that we are positioned to meet this rapid growth and accelerate our presence in the market."

4CS brings a diverse background to the partnership with experience in both Web and enterprise environments. MODCOMP's ViewMax allows 4CS to bridge the gap between these two specialties.

"4CS is pleased with our new partnership with MODCOMP," said Martin Spratt, manager, consulting services and solutions, 4CS. "We were looking for elegant ways to rapidly enable e-commerce solutions by exploiting our customers' existing application systems. Many of our customers have immediate needs for e-business solutions. With MODCOMP's ViewMax, we will be able to provide a scalable and reliable technology to get them into the e-commerce market quickly and cost effectively."

"This agreement is another example of the steps we are taking to reposition CSP Inc. to leverage the tremendous opportunity for our ViewMax product in the new Internet economy," stated Alexander Lupinetti, CSP Inc. chairman, president and CEO.
