CSP Inc. Announces OEM Partnership Between MODCOMP and Financial DataCorp

Licensing Agreement Broadens Use of ViewMax; Bolsters Web Front-End for Premier Bank Systems

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., June 7, 1999 -- CSP Inc. (NASDAQ:CSPI) announced that its MODCOMP, Inc. subsidiary, a developer of Internet software solutions, has entered into an OEM licensing agreement with Financial DataCorp, a software manufacturer, which sells complete financial systems to credit unions and community banks. Under the terms of the agreement, Financial DataCorp will bundle MODCOMP's Web-to-host software, ViewMax(TM), to create a Web front-end for its bank management solution.

By integrating ViewMax with its banking solution, Financial DataCorp will provide credit unions and community banks with intranet and Internet access to their mainframe data through a Web interface, allowing bank employees to manage customer account information from work or home using a browser at their desktops. ViewMax selectively extends information from legacy systems so users can access and update the data from a Web browser.

"As a leading provider of Web-to-host solutions, we continue to pursue opportunities that strengthen our position in the e-business market," said Gary Fowler, vice president, sales and marketing, MODCOMP Internet Products Division. "This agreement with Financial DataCorp expands our presence into the banking community and adds to the portfolio of Web-to-host applications supported by ViewMax."

Using the ViewMax 3151 terminal interface, MODCOMP and Financial DataCorp will create the new browser-based front end to the banking solution without having to modify any of the existing code. Financial DataCorp runs its applications on AIX¨ machines, such as IBM RS/6000¨ and Escala¨ servers from Bull Worldwide Information Systems.

"We were looking for emulation that was native to the UNIX¨ environment," said Bob Mariotti, executive vice president and CTO at Financial DataCorp. "With MODCOMP's ViewMax, we are able to offer a server-centric solution using one product, rather than complex layers of multiple applications. This makes the system easier for our clients to manage and control."

This new solution will deliver browser-based access to data across wide area networks (WAN), intranets, and secure Web sites, offering more flexibility and options than fat client solutions. Bank customer service representatives, executives, and telecommuting employees will benefit from the browser capabilities of intranet and remote Internet access, while tellers can continue to use a character-based terminal to process customer transactions in a homogeneous environment.
