May
8, 2000, Ft. Lauderdale, FL MODCOMP, Inc. (www.modcomp.com),
a subsidiary of CSP Inc. (NASDAQ: CSPI) and a leading developer
of E-commerce and M-Business solutions, today announced that
its integration software, ViewMax, is the first solution to
support wireless access to mainframe, midrange, and UNIX applications
via the Palm VII.
Palm,
Inc.'s Palm.net Service assigned a 4-star rating to ViewMax,
which seamlessly connects the Palm VII browser to any enterprise
system, or "green screen," computer application. The solution
enables businesses and institutions to offer quick access to
applications from remote locations; for example, it can let
an insurance sales representative view a customer policy from
the field, or allow a student to research a university library
system.
MODCOMP's
Palm VII support is the most recent addition to its suite of
mobile business (M-Business) solutions. Earlier this year, MODCOMP
launched WAP66 Portal Server, the first server solution
to make existing enterprise data available for mobile business
(M-Business) using wireless access protocol.
"Wireless
access to mainframe applications will especially benefit the
mobile workforce who depend on quick and secure enterprise data
to get their jobs done," said Rob Crigler, vice president marketing,
MODCOMP E-commerce Division. "We expect ViewMax to play a significant
role for organizations embracing the new wireless Internet economy."
According
to Crigler, interested organizations can link to the ViewMax
- Palm VII enterprise solution demo at www.palm.net/apps.
Standard
pricing for ViewMax begins at $10,000 (U.S.) plus configuration
services and user licensing.
