MODCOMP Provides ViewMax Host-to-Web Integration Solution for VWR Scientific Products' Internet Electronic Commerce System

April 28, 1998, Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- MODCOMP, Inc., a subsidiary of CSP, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSPI), has successfully completed a host-to-web integration project with the company's new ViewMax product for VWR Scientific Products, a major scientific product distributor headquartered in West Chester, Pennsylvania. VWR intends to roll out its ViewMax-enhanced on-line ordering system in May 1998 and is expecting to see a substantial increase in electronic commerce orders.

MODCOMP used its ViewMax host-to-web integration tool to rapidly develop major enhancements to VWR's existing electronic commerce system. After a short study of the existing VWR system and an agreement on the project parameters, development and implementation of the project took less than a month. ViewMax was implemented without any modifications to the host application code.

"During the past two years, we have experienced a dramatic increase in electronic commerce traffic. We recognized that the key to turning more of that traffic into sales was to implement ViewMax so that customers could see their individual contracted prices and product availability." stated Adam Bauman, director of emerging technologies at VWR.

VWR is now using ViewMax to integrate its mainframe-based customer discount pricing data with its web ordering system. Now, when a customer builds an on-line order, ViewMax seamlessly logs onto the mainframe, enters the customer ID and product numbers, retrieves the appropriate pricing, and embeds that data into the HTML page. All of this occurs in a matter of seconds without the customer experiencing any degradation in performance.
