ViewMax
Development Environment:
- The
ViewMax Configuration Tool -- is a rapid application
development environment, which is used by a developer
to create your web interface to your legacy system. This
tool is used to automatically define the menu structure
for host navigation and to build standard HTML pages,
which can then be edited and enhanced using any web authoring
package to include graphics, sound, video, animation as
well as other multimedia. When development is complete,
these pages will reside on the web server and use CGIs
to call the ViewMax Server.
ViewMax
Architecture:
- Host
System Interface is used by the ViewMax Supervisor
Module to access and transact with your system without
any modification to your current application. ViewMax
connects to a broad range of host systems using these
terminal interfaces: DEC VT100-420, IBM 3270, 5250, as
well as HP, Tandem, ICL, Stratus, Viewdata etc. ViewMax
has optional interface plug-ins for these host system
application interfaces: ODBC, OLE, SQL, and special customized
interfaces can be developed where needed.
- ViewMax
Server provides uninterrupted sessions with your legacy
and host systems. It determines which existing systems
and applications need to be accessed, it navigates through
those sessions to access and transact with the data as
needed. Should a disruption occur during a session, i.e.
the user turns off his computer, this ViewMax module will
gracefully log out of the session with the host so that
the host system is not left "hung" in an unfinished state.
- ViewMax
Supervisor -- controls the virtual sessions with
your business systems based on the information it
receives from the Web Interface or API.
- ViewMax
Legacy Object Database -- during configuration,
each data item or field specified on the legacy system
becomes an object. Each object is comprised of the
data item or field itself and the navigational characteristics
required to reach that item on the legacy system.
As an object is accessed on the web page, the ViewMax
engine runs the appropriate script from the object
database to locate that data item on the legacy system.
- ViewMax
PERL -- using the full power of the PERL programming
language, math and logic can be applied to any legacy
data item in order to enhance or modify the information
that is portrayed to the user.
- Common
Gateway Interface (CGI) is used to connect the ViewMax
server to the web.
- Universal
API -- using Standard In/Out provides the ability
to integrate other non-web applications or data with your
enterprise systems regardless of what language it is written
in.
MODCOMP
provides turn-key configuration and integration services to
custom tailor and install your ViewMax web-to-host solution
or you may purchase the software and do it yourself.
Web
Software and Hardware:
- Web
Server and Server Software -- ViewMax integrates with
the most popular web servers on the market.
- ViewMax
is designed to work with all standard Firewall products.
ViewMax
Architecture

Protect,
Preserve, Secure - Security by Design
ViewMax
was designed with security and protection in mind. Beginning
with user log-in and authentication, only authorized users
can access your system. Normal legacy log-on can be used for
a second layer of authorization and tracking.
ViewMax
accesses the host system applications on behalf of the remote
client -- no direct access is permitted. This means that users
never have access to a system prompt, and they cannot tamper
with the system. They can only access, interact and transact
with the pre-determined web pages, information, and forms.
