MODCOMP SCADA Donation Aids Virginia Tech in Success of Smart Road Project

August 3, 1999, Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- MODCOMP, Inc., a subsidiary of CSP Inc. (NASDAQ: CSPI) and a systems integration company that supplies SCADA technologies for traffic control, is donating applications support to Virginia Tech Center for Transportation Research for use in the Smart Road project. The donation allows Virginia Tech to implement data collection and control functions for researching elements of the Smart Road project. MODCOMP will assist Virginia Tech in integrating the complete SCADA technologies solution and will provide applications support for products donated by other co-operating companies.

The Smart Road is a unique, state-of-the-art, full-scale research facility that tests, evaluates and validates Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) concepts, technologies, and products. The SCADA donation aids Virginia Tech in its Smart Road research projects that will include the analysis of crash avoidance technologies, driver behavior, vehicle dynamics, ITS sensors, pavement testing, automated vehicle control, and snow and ice removal.
