7502 board
IBM designed single board computer

Overview
MODCOMP's medium capacity industrial computers are designed for those customers who require powerful, reliable computers with many ISA adapter slots, and varied mounting options.

Model 7502 series of industrial computers is the ideal choice for embedding in a product or for use in locations with harsh environments. Model 7502 series can operate without a keyboard or display and coupled with the wall/panel mount option makes it an ideal computer for factory or warehouse environments as a soft PLC.

All computers in the REAL/STAR® II family provide a very robust, low cost system level solution for users who would like to migrate from the Motorola®-based REAL/STAR family of computers while retaining the real-time features and benefits of MODCOMP's REAL/IX® operating system.

MODCOMP's Model 7502 series consists of robust, highly reliable, high capacity processing systems. The chassis is designed for easy access to all components, and the varied mounting options increases versatility.

MODCOMP's industrial computer systems, Model 7502 series, is based upon the Intel Pentium 133, 166 or 200 MHz processor.

The SBC supports one PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) option slot that is used for the video option.

The SBC also supports an optional Ethernet chip that provides on-board 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet.

Model 7502 series is fully supported by MODCOMP's REAL/IX PXTM operating system, the POSIX®-compliant, real-time implementation of the System V UNIX operating system. The REAL/STAR II Family offers open systems computing with real-time performance.

Description
These industrial computer systems combine extremely high reliability and tolerance for hostile environments in a single chassis. The PICMG compliant design provides for minimum mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) . In addition to the slot used by the SBC, there are nine full length ISA slots, one half length ISA slot and two full length ISA/PCI shared slots providing support for a wide variety of standard PCI and ISA, 8 and 16-bit controller cards. The mechanical package supports one floppy disk drive, one CD-ROM and two shock-mount 3.5-inch IDE hard disk drives.

The SBC is available with (7502-1-) or without (7502-2-) on-board Ethernet. Both SBC configurations include a choice of 133, 166 or 200 MHz Intel Pentium processors. Customers have the flexibility of choosing from 64 to 256 MB of 60 ns EDO parity memory. All SBC options include 512 of pipeline synchronous burst level 2 cache. One PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) is supported. An Analog Video PMC is provided for applications that require CRT video support. The video PMC has sizzling 64-bit graphics with 2 MB of video RAM standard. System mouse and keyboard ports are included with the display port on this PMC.

All configurations are expandable to 256 MB of EDO parity memory using 64 MB 72-pin SIMM modules.

Model 7502 series is designed for reliable round-the-clock operation. It has two large filtered cooling fans that keep internal components well under their operating limits, even in hot environments. The system performs reliably in extended temperature from 0° to 50C (32° to 122°F) with 5 to 95% (non-condensing) humidity. With its shock mounted hard disk drives and CD-ROM and an adapter hold down bracket, the system can with stand the shock and vibration found in many harsh work environments.

These systems have integrated support for two 16550 serial ports -- one Centronics compatible ECP/EPP parallel port in addition to the optional Ethernet port with RJ45 connector. The keyboard, mouse and display ports are contained on the PMC display adapter so that the system can be configured without local keyboard, mouse and display for secure applications.
